Saving Water

I don’t have a dishwasher at home and one day I tested to see how much water went down the sink before it was hot enough to wash the dishes. It was one gallon! As it turns out I have a lovely one gallon pitcher than now lives right next to my sink. I fill the pitcher as the water warms and use that water to fill the dog’s water bowl, water my houseplants, and water some outside plants. For me it’s 3-4 gallons of water repurposed per day. My immediate neighbors do it now too, so between us, we’re taking that 15 gallons that would have otherwise went down the sink, and using it in meaningful ways. That’s 105 gallons per week or 1,260 gallons per year! Join us! Every drop matters!
