The Little Things

I teach a nutrition class at Sam Jones Shelter every Wednesday morning and it’s one of the most rewarding parts of my life. We have fascinating conversations. Today we ‘took apart’ a recent article about protein and looked at other parts of meat consumption-the environmental concerns. It was really interesting with lots of segueways.  One man grew up on a farm in West Virginia where his mother and grandmother raised their food and he has lived a great part of his life hunting (hence talking about wild game and protein) and using everything he hunts. Everyone had a story and we all enjoyed the class and everything that became a part of it-mostly human connection.

My neighbor and friend gave me a bag of just-picked lemons off of her tree to give to the folks in my class. They were so appreciative and felt cared for. It’s the little things that can make such a difference in someone’s life. Thank you Sharon!
