The Importance of Nature

I had the pleasure and inspiration of seeing an elderly man, who was very stooped over, walk along the trail just ahead of me and my little grand children today. He was an opportunity for me to tell them about how important nature is for our soul, health and general happiness.

When I ask kids in cooking /nutrition classes, as part of DirectionFive, what they do when they’re feeling stressed, more times than not, they say they go for a walk, or climb a tree. I think we all know deep down the importance of nature on our well-being. Take a walk , breathe deeply, and let your mind clear. If you live in a city, perhaps a roof top or neighborhood park, or even opening a window and looking up at the stars will be you feel part of something bigger than yourself.
