Ana Lopez from the Boy’s and Girl’s Club sent me this nice note:
“Boys & Girls Club of Central Sonoma County has added their newest school site at Roseland Accelerated Middle School (RAMS) this year and is serving the junior high students after-school on site. With the rise of diabetes and chronic health conditions, Boys & Girls Clubs of America have created a strong emphasis on healthy lifestyles. Two of their core areas specifically focus on health and recreation, and so when Patty James came to Teen Club wanting to do a demonstration on health, we jumped at the opportunity. Her ‘How To’ demo focused on the importance of healthy skin and how to maintain it and she was able to provide our members with some very useful information. From all of us at RAMS Teen Club, thank you for your enthusiasm and valuable information!”
If you would like me to speak to your group of kids, please let me know. We are working on upcoming health programs for Shine The Light On Kids.
Let me know!
Also, I have appointments with quite a few businesses about being Partners for Shine The Light On Kids. Our immediate need is to have someone agree to sponsor the web site. We have so much more information that needs to be posted, but our web master needs to be paid! Luckily, we have found (thanks to Tanya Scott) a local firm who is working on editing the kid’s interviews videos as part of the incredible PowerPoint presentation. The firm is called Rough Edge Productions. Here are two videos that have created for others:

Sonoma State is busy continuing to work on the data analysis. This is vital as we can’t apply for grants for so many things we need until they are done. This isn’t slowing us down however! Almost everyday I speak with or meet with someone in either a local business or national business (and sometimes both at the same time). I won’t tell you names quite yet, but I am hopeful.
Do you know of a business or individual who wants to be either a Sponsor (usually for an event and often a one time thing) or a Partner (longer term and ongoing, generally)? We need you!
We also need people to volunteer to help with the Gala on May 21st. We have the location (the gorgeous Vine Hill House) and many auction items- tickets to the Grammy’s, the ESPY’s, sailing lessons, trips, local gift certificates, artwork, and so much more- but we need people to start working on the food and wine pairings. We have wine, beer and whiskey tastings. Yes, whiskey. I was in NYC for a fundraiser for Wellness in the Schools, and the whiskey tasting was so popular!
Let us know if you can help with any of the above.
All the best,
Patty
