Hi all!

On September 26th at the gorgeous Shelley & Young Winery in Alexander Winery I will give my first little chat since returning from the Shine The Light journey. It’s called Wine and Stories and will be a casual fun couple of hours sipping on great wine and nibbling on appetizers in their beautiful gardens as I give you an overview of the trip interviewing kids.

It’s open to just 20 people and I am hoping to see some old friends and new friends there! It’s only a $15.00 donation to Shine The Light and we’ll have lots of fun.

Join me!

Here’s the big announcement! Our first annual Shine The Light On Kids Gala Event is February 19th, 2011 at the stunning Vine Hill House in The O’Connell Vineyard in Sebastopol, California. We’ll have 400 guests, food and wine pairings, beer and wine parings, and some other surprise pairings. There will be a live and silent auction with auction items being such things such as tickets to the World Series, a Fishing Trip to various places in the US (bass in the Everglades? fly fishing in Colorado?) or perhaps an album signed by Carlos Santana? How about endless bottles of wine? A dusty old bottle of scotch? A first edition book? Original art work? There will be music and entertaining. This will be the Gala event of the year! You will not believe what else we have in store for you!

Our goal is to make $100,000 to develop health programs for kids. You will be able to see what your donation will purchase, which will make it easier to give as you will know exactly where your dollars are going.

Save that date!

Hi all:

I would like to begin giving informative health talks/lectures here and there around Sonoma, Marin and other Bay Area counties. I need to gather information about what Bay Area people and their families need to live healthier lives. This is research for me and help for you. No one will be turned away for lack of funds, but I will have a donation jar for Shine The Light by the door. This is open to the first 10 groups who want me to speak. Your business? Club? Service organization? Boys and Girls Club?

Let me know!

Happy Monday!

First, I am very excited about our first event at Shelley&Young Winery in about 3 weeks! I sure hope to see you there. There is however something else to share. Dan and Jan O’Connell have volunteered their beautiful site for a huge Gala event as fundraiser for Shine The Light.

It will be sometime in the next 3 months and we’ll have music, dinner and dancing, wine tasting and so much more! I am currently looking for people to be on the auction committee. Would you be willing to help gather goods and services to auction? If so, please let me know. There will be a date set this week.

More soon.

Are you good at…

…PowerPoint presentations? Do you know how to edit I Movies? Care to help with Shine The Light On Kids? I need an exceptionally good PP presentation. Here is what I see:

Opening with a great song having to do with kids and inspiration. I was thinking the Power Of Love by Huey Lewis, but the song has to change frequently or it becomes a branding issue (of all things).

Next the outline of a US map in blue neon with the photos of many kids popping up in their state as I say their names (don’t care if it sounds corny. I’m teary just thinking about it!) By now the audience will be awake.

Next are health statistics. Graphs included, with photos of kids so folks see there are faces behind the stats.

I’ll go through the questions I asked the kids and the videos I filmed would be edited so many kids are seen answering that one question. In some cases this is going to be very powerful.

We’ll have quips and quotes from the kids-many heartwarming, some will break your heart, but almost always they will inspire everyone to help.

Lastly is what we envision doing to help. This is the crescendo, so to speak. People will be reaching in for their checkbooks at this point and we’ll be well on our way to helping so many kids! What the World Needs Now is Love Sweet Love is playing (too much?)

Please send this email out to everyone you know. We need your help. A film company who wants to give back? Anyone know anyone at Pixar or Lucasfilms? That said, college kids are often great at this. There is a time crunch so a learning curve wouldn’t work. I know there is someone out there who is waiting for an opportunity to help create something important.

Please help….

Thank you
