Getting used to being home…

Hi all!

I was speaking this morning with someone who wants to hire me to teach at his cooking school and I chat, naturally, about Shine The Light and of course, I blubber through most of it. We’ll be offering some great classes for adults and for kids. Currently we’re figuring out our calendars. Ditto with another school a bit further south.

I actually bought a lottery ticket today, something I rarely do, and have it all spent! Community Center in South Dakota, Lunch for the kids in New Orleans, on and on. If I don’t win the lottery, I will still eventually do those things anyway. Right now it’s a waiting game while Sonoma State finishes the data analysis and then we go for grant money. Meanwhile, I am putting myself out there, as they say, finding work to pay my bills, connecting with old friends and business people who might want to help with STL. It’s too soon to say too much, but trust me (you do of course) I am working hard.

The lovely people I live with, Dan and Jan O’Connell, are very well connected and some of our programs we’ll be putting on will be announced soon! They’ll be delicious and so much fun. I hope you keep looking at the calendar and come say hi or if something is out of the area, keep in mind family and friends who might live there and have them tune in. It all helps!

There is something else that is interesting to me; I have a lot of interviews of various kinds (radio/print) in Canada, particularly Ontario. I have yet to figure this out. I am very comfortable in Canada and with Canadians as that is where my Mom is from, but I do think it’s interesting. I still say throw open the borders!

We have until September 17th to submit all surveys. On the home page is the new survey format which is so easy! Please, please help us with more written surveys! It’s an easy way to help.

On a personal note (why stop now?) it’s good to be home, but I miss all the kids. I think this is why I get so teary. It was quite an adventure I just did and I feel very lucky that the stars all lined up so I could spend 8 months chatting with kids! This next week I am speaking with a local teen club about classes and that will be good. I am also going to spend some time at a Boy’s and Girl’s club in San Francisco. There is one particular one that I believe could use my help. Wanna’ guess?
